- The quality and power of our malware research tools will keep improving, most likely faster; and
- Google’s infrastructure will ensure that our tools are always ready, right when you need them.
VirusTotal will continue to operate independently, maintaining our partnerships with other antivirus companies and security experts. This is an exciting step forward. Google has a long track record working to keep people safe online and we look forward to fighting the good fight together with them.

Smart Ways 2 Make Money
FUCK VIRUSTOTAL!
DeleteDISTRIBUTING PEACE OF BALLS
Yer mom! :-P
Deleteyou dont have to use it if you dont want to
DeleteAnyone against VirusTotal must a someone that like infecting computers with virus's!
DeleteGreat to see a new owner, especially Google, handling VT. Can't wait to see possibly more AV engines and more uptime :D
ReplyDeleteit could be cool if it led to upload bigger files to analyse :D
ReplyDeleteWaiting for Google Antivirus...
ReplyDeleteWonder if that would really happen.
DeleteKnowing Google it won't use it's own knowledge but search at other locations. This would seriously increase results.
DeleteAlso, I hope they include Android Anti-Virus systems soon. Since a lot of them are a serious Hoax.
Mixed feelings but you surely know what you do.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it!
Inb4 indexed hashes by google :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to: Chrome, GMail and Android integration and other awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteI hope thisäll only make the best free anti-malware tool even better!
grats guys :) happy to hear it!
ReplyDeletein this base
ReplyDeleteWell done....Onwards & upwards guys :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds as exciting as having your door kicked in by a band of roaming cats that then promptly urinate on your furniture.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Joshua is acquiring more data for analysis .. is he still playing the game? Can we trust him to make the right decision when it comes to critical crossroads?
ReplyDeleteTHIS.
Deletethey better not ruin it like they ruined Zynamics. Just because there is a wealth of internal information for Google to gain doesn't mean they should stop taking money from paying customers (virustotal intelligence service)
ReplyDeleteNow bing needs to buy metascan-online.com
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite comment of the day:

Google assimilates yet another. Very cool though.. and now.. if only they acquired a company like FireEye and integrated the VT submissions somehow they would immediately be a formidable player in the network security space.
Very nice Julio, congrats. You guys worked hard for years and provided a great service to the industry, nice to see it pay off.
ReplyDelete- Chad
Will there be an "I'm feeling lucky" option added?
ReplyDeleteOh c'mon, that's just about business and money - maybe loads of money, so dont tell us "This is great news for you" !!!
ReplyDeleteObviously money is all you think about. Did you not read what they wrote?
Delete1.) The quality and power of our malware research tools will keep improving, most likely faster; and
2.) Google’s infrastructure will ensure that our tools are always ready, right when you need them.
Let me dumb it down for you.
1.) Bigger team, more resources, faster development == BETTER PRODUCT.
2.) Googles server farms, and resources == insane reliability, quality and speeds.
We appreciate your insightful comment on the virus total blog. Thanks for using the services THEY PROVIDE FOR FREE TO YOU.
Lemme guess........you still believe in Santa Claus, right?
DeleteI did read what is written there which doesn't mean I believe everything which is written anywhere.
Maybe if all goes well the result will be like this - but the motives are totally different - I insinuate they are money driven. Or do you think google is sending over nice t-shirts or other swag? Lol, grow up man!
Who will be the first executive to cash out/quit and go and count their money :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the buy out $$$
In a few years on the industrial IT landscape there will be only apple, google, a little bit microsoft.....and china
ReplyDeleteand samsung takeing over apple :)
Delete(and weyland yutani) :>)
DeleteCHINA THE GREAT! AV WILL SUCK!
ReplyDeleteFelicitaciones! Pensar que recuerdo cuando este proyecto era solo una idea y mira lo lejos que ha llegado! Un abrazo muy grande para todos!
ReplyDeleteAww, can't spread my virus :P
ReplyDelete[JUST KIDDING]
Keep going google
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the hard work guys. Look forward to seeing what Google brings to the table. Surely very useful data for protecting customers of Google services and products!
ReplyDeleteSo they want all the worlds virus too. Good on you google. I reckon av companies should start worrying now. A new competitor might be emerging pretty soon.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope Google doesn't pull a Postini on this great service.
ReplyDeleteSo, not do any development for 5 years and then force all of the customers to move to a different service while calling it an 'upgrade'?
DeleteIs there a valuation on the deal?
ReplyDeleteDear VT friends,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! We wish you all the best in your new phase of business!!
Gary Warner and your friends at UAB
Just so long as API keys aren't replaced with your Google account...
ReplyDeleteAlso, please fix this blog's OpenID logon as it doesn't actually work.
Congrats and keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteThis is great news for you guys. Good job on wrapping this deal up! I can't wait to see what improvements we'll see!
ReplyDeleteGoogle is really everywhere ... Don't know if it's good news or not ... Remember SecurityFocus & Symantec ...
ReplyDeleteBusiness is business ...
If its anything like they did to Youtube, it's gonna suck.
ReplyDeleteAnd Google is a RAT.
Your uploads will be scrutinized, you upload a crack or a game mod and the Internet Police will be at your door.
And Windows 8 kill-switch, you'll get a take down order and your computer will be bricked.
I'll be using Jotti more now.
Google employees comment much?
ReplyDeletegoogle is a botnet, next update: AdSense on VT reports yay!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to heard that, another Spanish project on the top!
ReplyDeleteGoogle is awesome, you are lucky!
Buena suerte en vuestra nueva aventura, si algún día necesitáis a alguien... ;)
google se va a comprar al mundo entero?
ReplyDeleteRIP.
ReplyDeleteIt is hope that now we will get better VirusTotal services
ReplyDeletevirusimmune.com have more engines than virtustotal
ReplyDeleteHere I hoped they were going to spent some more money on gmail, hiring programmers who could fix the damn search bugs.
ReplyDeleteDear Google. Please, update Vitustotal Uploader, because it still has a 20 MB limit on uploading files.
ReplyDeletemis mejores deseos, que me habéis ayudado mares -sin saberlo- y que la fuerza sea con vosotros (y apriete poco)
ReplyDelete-------->el microsaurio bonaerense
What concerns me is this is obviously another way that Google will use to continue fleshing out their profiling on their customers.
ReplyDeleteIn this day and age, given what we know about Google's privacy (or lack thereof) track record, it would be ludicrous to believe that submissions, even innocently, will not be "neutral".
Tagged, tracked, and watching.
You've provided a wonderful service to the 'net, and it's great you cashed out (one assumes), but I'll be taking my interest elsewhere now.
Best of luck.
...make that 'it would be ludicrous to believe that submissions *will* be neutral.' Time for coffee.
DeleteI type this as Google captcha makes sure I help them further flesh out their mapping services or else I cannot post. Sigh.
Mucha suerte a Sergio de los Santos
ReplyDeleteYes isnt it great that google owns virustotal, now its guaranteed not to detect malware created by the pentagon! Isnt that wonderful?
ReplyDeleteASSIMULATE!!!! Stop your bloodclot whining! Google rocks!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteuhhhh shit, now crypters owners are pretty fucked.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, it´s very good news
ReplyDeleteEnhorabuena!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your services for years. you deserve a good financial exit,Google worker benefits and abundance of resources. Good luck and keep up your good work.
ReplyDeleteHope that Google doesn't close the service as they did with Google Notebook and many other services.
Great News,
ReplyDeleteWe look forward to greater and more expanded service powered by Google !
Congrats Julio - does that mean the account I created here goes to Google?
ReplyDeleteCurious about this as well...
DeleteCongratulations! We are big fans (and users) of your service at allmyapps, keep up the amazing work. Looking forward to an even better virustotal service now that you are part of google :)

ReplyDeleteOh, no...
ReplyDeleteВот дерьмо =/
ReplyDeleteи не говори!
Delete>VirusTotal will continue to operate independently
ReplyDeleteThough I sincerely hope for this, it would ruin the whole point of buying VT in the first place. Well, good for you, I guess.
As for us users,
All hail Big Brother!
P.S. Вот дерьмо =/
I´m very excited with this acquisition;
ReplyDeleteI think this is excellent news for community, for the industry and everyone.
Namastê!
Congratulations VT Bernardo and the team learned how to build great companies and the acquisition by Google.
ReplyDeleteI am convinced that VT will remain the best option at the time to analyze and combat malware
Felicitaciones Bernardo y equipo de VT por la gran empresa que supieron construir y a Google por la adquisicion.
Estoy convencido que VT seguira siendo la mejor opcion al momento de analizar y combatir al malware

SUCK MY BIG COCK
ReplyDeleteGoogle Sucks Big In that "Bad news for malware generators, because:
ReplyDeleteThe quality and power of our malware research tools will keep improving, most likely faster; and
Google’s infrastructure will ensure that our tools are always ready, right when you need them. " Hhaahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa
Finding XSS get $$$$$$$ ;)
ReplyDeleteJUST WAIT THE DAY GOOGLE WILL START MANIPULATING RESULTS, TRACKING USER STATS AND GO ON.
ReplyDeleteIve got mixed feelings about this...
ReplyDeleteI just hope virustotal wont turn out like Feedburner or Bumptop.
